KOKOROGI -HIGHLAND RESORT HOTEL & SPA-

Highland Resort Hotel & Spa is located at the foot of Japan’s highest peak, Mount Fuji, and nestled in a location embraced by rich natural surroundings.　　

The renovation for the innovative Japanese cuisine restaurant “Kokorogi” is anchored by the centrally located iconic charcoal grill counter.  The spatial design is inspired by the elemental forces nurtured by this land’s vast nature – “fire”, water,” “wood,” and “earth” – along with the volcanic energy, geological strata, and vegetation emanating from Mount Fuji.  Through this approach, we aimed to create an experience where guests could savor not just the food but also entertainment though the boldness and uniqueness arising from the deeply rooted nature of this land.

The charcoal grill counter, positioned at the center of the dining area, is designed with beautifully layered plaster finishes featuring a distinctive, and sculptural design inspired by “Blue Fuji”.  Seasonal ingredients are prepared right in front of guests, offering a lively ambience.

The main dining room facing the garden features carpet designs, lighting fixtures, and artwork themed around the “Yoshida Fire Festival”, one of Japan’s Three Great Strange Festivals.

In the two private dining rooms, traditional Japanese product designs are regenerated in a contemporary approach using gold leaf and lacquer, lending the space a sense of luxury and the extraordinary.
